Autumn 2023 bucket list

It’s October and you know what that means: crisp mornings, hot tea and all things cozy. In short: The best season of the year is upon us!

The new season always gets me excited with all the fun things I want to do and there’s nothing quite like a bucket list to collect all the ideas. I just love sitting down and coming up with fun ideas!

So grab a hot beverage, cozy up and get some inspiration for your own autumn bucket list!

1. Long walks

Nothing better than throwing on those layers and heading out for a long walk in the crisp autumn air. It’s the best way to enjoy the leaves changing colour and you might even end up at a cozy café 😉

2. Seasonal baking & cooking

Apple pie, pumpkin soup, a hearty stew… Autumnal dishes are just so comforting and will truly warm you up from the inside. So play your favourite comfort show in the background (Gilmore Girls fans, unite!), have fun fun cooking or baking and enjoy some seasonal dishes!

2. Movie night

The days are getting shorter and that calls for cozy evenings – what better way to spend them than having a cozy movie night? Grab some blankets, snacks, candles and your favourite people (or just yourself) and you’re ready to enjoy! I recommend Pride and Prejudice, The Devil wears Prada and the holy grail of autumn films, Harry Potter.

3. Bookshop dates

I LOVE bookshops. I could spend hours browsing the shelves and looking for new book to add to my (admittedly extensive) TBR pile. Visiting the bookshop on a rainy day is just a supreme date activity (sorry, I don’t make the rules), so make sure to not miss out on this one.

4. Go on a hike

Crisp air and a long hike, enjoying the views and taking a break for a little picknick? Yes, please! This is the perfect weather to be active outside, so embrace it before winter comes around.

5. Try new hobbies (or revive your old ones)

Creative hobbies are a fantastic way to calm down, have fun trying something new and pass the time on a gloomy day. Whether it’s knitting, painting, journaling, croucheting, or whatever comes to your mind, just have fun with it!

6. Make your home cozy

Chances are that now that the colder months are approaching, you spend a lot more time indoors. My favourite way to help me enjoy spending that much time at home is to make it all cozy and hyggelig. That means: blankets, candles, fairy lights, seasonal decorations and some extra pillows on the sofa.

No need to break the bank, though! Just a blanket and some candles will do. You can also find a lot of decorative elements in nature – think pinecones, dried flowers and the like.

7. Reading nights

Okay, one of my favorite ways to spend the darker months: read, read, read. Grab a book, a hot cuppa and cozy up on the sofa for hours.

A book that I religiously re-read every autumn is Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. You just can never go wrong with it! If that’s not your vibe, though, consider a thriller like The Guest List by Lucy Foley (be warned: I could NOT put it down until the very end!).

8. Have fun with autumn fashion

It is universally agreed upon that autumn is THE fashion season. Cozy knits, layers and chic boots: Get you favourite pieces out from the back of your wardrobe and try out some new outifts (or your forever favourite ones)! Don’t forget that fashion should be fun and it’s all yours to embrace.

9. Café Hopping

Coffee? Always a good idea! Spend an afternoon at your favourite café or explore some new spots. Take your bestie or just a good book and enjoy some slow hours sipping away on your favourite coffee (or tea) order!

10. Join a book club

If you’re like me and you’ve always loved the idea of a book club but never had the opportunity (or social confidence) to join one, now is the time! Whether you find a local book club in your town, look up an online book club or even start your own one, just go for it it.

I plan on joining the Reese Witherspoon book club and actually already started this month’s pick, Mother-Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon.

What’s on your autumn bucket list this year? Let me know in the comments below!

Love,

Carola
